South Asia is one of the most populous, diverse, and dynamic regions in the world, and a key to global transformations in the twenty-first century. Home to the world’s largest democracy, to dramatic economic growth and to two nuclear powers, South Asia boasts a dizzying array of cultures, religions and ethnicities, making it a crucible for ideas in the humanities and social sciences. Through undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the Department of South Asian Studies offers students the opportunity to learn about the social, political, economic and cultural landscapes of the region, and how these connect to critical issues of global significance.
